Hi, I’m Vicki, a breath coach and yoga teacher.  The two go hand in hand for me.

Krishnamacharya, who is often referred to as the father of modern yoga, is reported as having said, “If you can breathe, you can do yoga.”

I have practiced different forms of yoga throughout my life, having always enjoyed the sensation of connecting with my body and nature.  My style is based on Ashtanga yoga, a practice aimed at optimising health and wellbeing and balancing the body through breathing and postures.  As a yoga teacher (trained by Ian Davies at the Orange School of Yoga, Cheltenham), I focus on ways to gently expand your current range of movement, with an emphasis on strength, balance and alignment.

For many years during my yoga practice I was aware of the breath, but I didn’t really delve into the subject of breathing until reading James Nestor’s Breath in 2020.  It fascinated me, so I went on to study breathing at greater depth.  Since then I have gone on to do advanced training with Oxygen Advantage, as well as studying other techniques including the Wim Hof Method.  Through this study I have come to understand the healing power of the breath, and how this can change the way we think and feel.  It has an impact on how we deal with stress & anxiety; the quality of our sleep; exercise performance, and even the severity of asthma symptoms.  I am passionate about sharing this practice with others, and my teaching continues to evolve to reflect my interest in the biochemistry and biomechanics of breathing and their transformative effects on the body and it's systems.
