BREATHWORK

“Modern research is showing us that making even slight adjustments to the way we inhale and exhale can jump-start athletic performance, rejuvenate internal organs, halt snoring, allergies, asthma and autoimmune disease…”

James Nestor “Breath” published 2020

Many of us overbreathe taking many more breaths per minute than we need for optimum functioning.  This in turn can keep us in a highly stressed state.  How you breathe has a profound impact on how you feel.  Every breath you take is sending messages to your brain and nervous system.

In my breathwork classes, I will support and guide you to develop optimal breathing by exploring the Oxygen Advantage technique, along with other yogic breathing practices and simple movements, based on your needs.

Once we work on developing a more normal breathing pattern, we can then focus on how this impacts the particular need you have, such as finding more balance and focus in your life, improving overall wellbeing, or to increase exercise performance.  There are also special techniques to help enhance sleep quality, a lessening of asthma symptoms, and an ability to manage stress & anxiety more effectively.

In fact, Dr Rahul Jandial, one of the world’s leading neurosurgeons spoke on a recent podcast with Dr Rangan Chatterjee about how he employs breathing techniques to get himself ready for high pressure surgery.  He also stated that he uses a specific technique when stressful situations come up whilst he is in the middle of an operation.

I teach face to face (outside where possible), and online.  There are options for small group classes, or one-to-one sessions (with online possibilities) tailored to your particular needs.

The benefits of breathwork include:

  • Relieving anxiety & stress

  • Boosting the immune system

  • Increased focus and attention
